Argentina: Unionized subway workers to strike in Buenos Aires June 19

Unionized subway workers to hold series of two-hour strikes in Buenos Aires, Argentina, June 19. Public transport disruptions likely.

Warning

Members of the Association of Subway and Premetro Workers (Asociacion Gremial de Trabajadores del Subte y Premetro, AGTSyP) plan to hold two-hour strikes in the Buenos Aires Subway System on June 19. The measure is in response to a sanction against a union leader by company executives. Labor leaders have planned the following specific work stoppages:

  • Lines B and E, and the Premetro: Strike between 17:00-19:00

  • Lines D and H: Strike between 19:00-21:00

  • Lines A and C: Strike between 21:00 and closing time (around 23:30)

Increased demand for alternative means of transport is likely during the walkouts. Disruptions could begin impacting subway services before the strikes begin.

Plan accordingly for subway service disruptions June 19. Allow additional time for ground transport in Buenos Aires. Consider alternative modes of transportation for time-sensitive travel.
