Armenia: Demonstrators clash with police near parliament as of June 13. Tight security and disruptions likely

Authorities will likely maintain an increased security presence near the National Assembly of Armenia in Yerevan as of early June 13 after clashes broke out between police and demonstrators. Authorities resorted to the use of tear gas and stun grenades to disperse protesters. At least 79 people, including police, were injured, and dozens of protestors were reportedly detained.

Increased security measures, such as road closures and security cordons, will likely cause transport disruptions in the impacted area. Additional clashes are likely over the coming hours.

As a standard precaution, avoid all protests. Allow additional time if traveling to the impacted area. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance.
