Informational

Unionized ship repair workers plan to conduct a 24-hour strike at the Ship Repair Shipyard in Perama July 25. The purpose of the action is to demand improved occupational safety measures following the death of shipyard employee in a workplace accident. Striking workers will also stage a protest march from the gate of the facility in Perama to the Ministry of Merchant Shipping in Piraeus starting at 07:00 July 25. It remains unclear how many participants the event may draw; organizers have as yet released no details concerning the planned march route.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely along the march route. Ship repair service disruptions are likely at the Port of Perama. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers or frustrated motorists cannot be ruled out.
