Unionized teachers likely to maintain 48-hour strike in the city of Cordoba, Argentina, through at least Aug. 6.

Unionized teachers, including those from the Union of Provincial Educators (Union de Educadores de la Provincia (UEPC), will likely continue their current 48-hour strike in Cordoba through at least late Aug. 6. The action began Aug. 5 and has reportedly drawn the participation of at least 20,000 people. One section of protesters initially gathered at Calle 25 de Mayo 427, while the others gathered at Avenida Maipu 30 before marching towards the civic center. Another group gathered at Calle Independencia 374. Transit disruptions occurred during the march, which has led to a heightened police presence. The government has indicated that they are in the process of negotiating with the activists to reach a resolution.

Localized disruptions associated with the strike and related protests are likely to persist. Authorities are also likely to maintain a heightened security posture.
