Brazil: Planned maintenance likely to affect water supply in Rio de Janeiro Sept. 5
Planned maintenance likely to affect water supply in parts of Rio de Janeiro's Metropolitan Area, Brazil, 04:00-22:00 Sept. 5.
Planned maintenance is likely to affect the water supply in parts of Rio de Janeiro's Metropolitan Area on Sept. 5. The State Water and Sewage Company (Companhia Estadual de Aguas e Esgotos, CEDAE) will shut down the Guandu water treatment plant for annual maintenance between 04:00 and 22:00. As a result, water supply disruptions are likely to affect parts of Rio de Janeiro, Duque de Caxias, Sao Joao de Meriti, Nova Iguacu, Mesquita, Nilopolis, Belford Roxo, and Queimados. The water supply will resume gradually once the works are completed.
Commercial disruptions are possible through early Sept. 6, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water for operations. The water outages could extend beyond the estimated restoration time.
If operating in impacted areas, stock up on drinking water and confirm alternative water supplies for business operations. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes. Water pressure and quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Minimize nonessential water usage.
