Peace activists plan to protest in Athens, Aug. 6, and Patras, Aug. 7, to demand that Greece withdraws from international military commitments. The events are planned to mark the anniversary of the first use of an atomic bomb in 1945. Organizers plan the following demonstrations:

  • Athens: Participants will gather at the Acropolis Metro Station at 20:00, Aug. 6

  • Patras: Participants will gather in Trion Allies Square at 20:00, Aug. 7.

It is not known how many will attend each event.

Authorities will likely deploy enhanced security to the protest sites. Localized disruptions are possible in the vicinity of the events. Violence is unlikely.

Avoid the protest areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the protest sites.
