Authorities are responding to two suspected car bomb explosions on the outskirts of Mogadishu the morning of Aug. 21. The first attack occurred along the Afgoye-Mogadishu Road in the Garasbaley area, resulting in at least five fatalities. Al-Shabaab militants claimed responsibility for the attack. Military officials said a second car bomb was intercepted and destroyed in the Elasha Biyaha settlement. No casualties were immediately reported from the incident.
