Transport disruptions are likely to continue across the National Highway-5 through late September as authorities respond to a landslide that occurred near Nigul Sari, Himachal Pradesh State, on Sept. 17. The incident occurred after underground water seeped through and caused unable terrain that caused 70 meters of road to collapse, isolating Kinnaur District from the rest of the state.

Emergency teams are attempting to remove the debris from the road, but it is unclear how long this will take as of Sept. 18. Additional landslide incidents cannot be ruled out.

Reconfirm travel arrangements. Seek alternative routes and allow additional travel time if traveling near the National Highway-5 at Nigul Sari or other roadways in the area. Heed advice from local authorities.
