India: Teachers plan to protest across Tamil Nadu State Sept. 10
Teachers plan to protest across Tamil Nadu State, India, Sept. 10. Localized transport disruptions possible.
Teachers affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Elementary Teachers Organisations-Joint Action Committee (TETO-JAC) plan to protest across Tamil Nadu Sept. 10. The purpose of the action is to call for the reinstatement of a previous pension scheme and urge the government to address salary anomalies, among other demands. Participants will gather at offices of district-level Chief Education Officers in Tamil Nadu from 11:00. Dozens to a few hundred people could participate in each gathering.
Security personnel will likely monitor all protests. Localized transport disruptions are possible in urban areas, especially if activists march along or block roads. Minor clashes between police and protesters are possible.
Avoid any protest that materializes as a precaution. If clashes erupt nearby, immediately depart the area and seek shelter at a safe, nongovernmental building. Plan for localized transport and business disruptions near any protests. Heed all official traffic and security advisories.
