Water disruptions ongoing in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala State, India, early Sept. 9 due to maintenance work. Business disruptions possible.

Informational

Water disruptions are still ongoing in parts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala State, as of early Sept. 9 due to ongoing maintenance works. The Kerala Water Authority (KWA) began working to change the alignment of the main transmission line at Melarannur on Sept. 5, but has been hit by delays. Educational institutions across Thiruvananthapuram remain closed, and the higher areas of the city continue to experience water disruptions.

Water disruptions can cause business disruptions, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water. Lingering water disruptions are possible as the KWA attempts to complete the works on Sept. 9.

Stock up on drinking water and confirm alternative water supplies for business operations. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes. Pressure and water quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Minimize nonessential water use for the duration of the disruptions.
