Gunfire was reported in mulitple areas of Bamako early Sept. 17. According to initial reports, a fire and gunfire occurred at the Faladje Gendarmerie School near the Tower of Africa at around 05:30. Security forces are reportedly deploying to the area. There are unconfirmed reports of gunfire near Modibo Keita International Airport (BKO) and the Banankabougou neighborhood.

An increased security presence is likely throughout Bamako over the coming hours. Business and transportation disruptions are also possible.
