Informational

Dozens of unionized jeepney drivers led by transport groups Pagkakaisa ng mga Samahan ng Tsuper (PISTON) and Manibela are demonstrating outside the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in Quezon City, Metro Manila, as of the morning of Sept. 20. The purpose of the action is to denounce the Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) Modernization Program.

Police have deployed additional personnel to monitor the action. Increased security and localized transport disruptions will likely remain around the LTFRB in the coming hours. Isolated scuffles between security forces and demonstrators are possible if the latter is overly disruptive. Police could attempt to disperse protesters if they attempt to bypass security barriers.

Avoid the protest site as a precaution and to minimize travel delays. Allow additional time for travel to nearby destinations; use alternative routes to circumvent the rally site. Remain cooperative if stopped by officials for security checks. Heed all local security and traffic advisories.
