Emergency crews are responding to a building collapse in Villa Gesell, Buenos Aires Province, early Oct. 29. The ten-story building affected was reportedly a hotel on Avenida 1. Officials estimate that between seven and nine people are trapped under the rubble. Reports indicate that the building was undergoing construction work without municipal approval. Villa Gesell is located on the Atlantic coast, around 370 km (230 miles) south of the city of Buenos Aires.

Heightened security and associated localized transport disruptions are likely until responders complete their operation.
