Argentina: Opposition groups to rally in downtown Buenos Aires, Oct. 8

Opposition organizations plan to rally at Ministry for Human Development and Obelisco in Buenos Aires, Argentina, morning of Oct. 8.

Warning

Activists affiliated with multiple opposition and left-wing organizations, including the Union of Workers of the Popular Economy (Union de Trabajadores de la Economia Popular, UTEP), plan to rally in downtown Buenos Aires on Oct. 8, to demand the national government to increase investment in social programs. Demonstrators intend to gather outside the Ministry for Human Development, located along Carlos Pellegrini avenue, starting at 10:00.

Additionally, other similar organizations, including the Front of Organizations for Struggle (Frente de Organizaciones en Lucha, FOL), plan to rally at the city's Obelisco, also starting at 10:00, in support of additional funding for low-income communities.

A few thousands are likely to participate in both demonstrations, which may converge late in the morning and afternoon of Oct. 8. Heightened security and associated transport disruptions near the protest areas, including along 9 de Julio Avenue, are possible.

Avoid all protests as a precaution. Plan for delays and alternative routes if operating in downtown Buenos Aires on Oct. 8.
