Greece: Activists to hold two demonstrations in Athens, Oct. 22

Activists to protest at Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family and Leoforos Andrea Siggrou in Athens, Greece, Oct. 22.

Informational

Activists affiliated with multiple labor unions plan to hold two protests in Athens Oct. 22. The purpose of the demonstrations is to denounce the planned eviction of a family with a disabled child in Chalcis. It was not immediately clear how many participants may attend. Protesters will gather at the following locations:

  • Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family on Dragatsaniou from 11:00.

  • 209 Leoforos Andrea Siggrou from 13:00.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the protest sites. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the affected areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the protest sites. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
