Unionized maritime workers end strike in Greece Oct. 25; lingering disruptions likely.

Maritime workers affiliated with multiple unions, including the Panhellenic Seamen's Federation (PNO) and the Panhellenic Union of Deckhands (PENEN), ended their nationwide strike on Oct. 25 after reaching a deal with the government. Participants had previously launched a 48-hour strike on Oct. 22, which they extended into Oct. 25. Unions were demanding improved collective labor agreements for 2025. The strike impacted multiple categories of maritime workers participated, including deckhands, dock workers, and ferry workers. Ferry services across Greece were disrupted during the strike period.

Ferry and port services will gradually resume service through the evening of Oct. 25.

Confirm maritime travel, shipments, and port-handling operations scheduled through the end of Oct. 25. Allow additional time to route freight through Greek ports through the end of Oct. 25.
