Mexico: Activists to march in cities nationwide Oct. 6

Activists to demonstrate in cities across Mexico Oct. 6 . Increased security, localized transport and business disruptions likely.

Warning

Activists affiliated with the group Women and Life (Mujer y Vida) will stage marches in cities across Mexico on Oct. 6. The purpose of the action is to advocate for improved living conditions for pregnant women. Organizers are reportedly planning events in 50 to 80 of the nation's cities, including Acapulco, Chihuahua, Morelia, Mexico City, and Tijuana. Specific start times and locations have been announced for the following:

  • Mexico City: March from Glorieta de Peralvillo to the Basilica of Guadalupe starting at 10:00.

  • Morelia: March from the Monumento a la Madre to the Michoacan State Congress starting at 09:30.

  • Mexicali: March from Vincente Guerrero Park to the Obelisco beginning at 16:30.

Heightened security, localized transport disruptions, and business disruptions are likely near the march routes. Counter-protests and clashes cannot be ruled out.

Avoid all demonstrations as a precaution. Consider alternative driving routes to avoid protest sites and march routes; allow extra time to reach nearby destinations. Heed the instructions of local authorities.
