Bolivia: Public transport workers launch 48-hour strike in Santa Cruz de la Sierra Nov. 21-22

Members of the Santa Cruz Transport Workers Federation (Federacion de Transportistas de Santa Cruz) have launched a 48-hour strike in Santa Cruz de la Sierra Nov. 21-22. They are demanding an increase in the price of bus tickets for adults. Some union members have said they intend to hold protests and build roadblocks on major roads throughout the city.

Significant transport disruptions are likely throughout the city on Nov. 21-22. Business disruptions are also likely. Clashes between protesters and police are possible if protests occur.
