Labor unions plan workers' rallies in Athens and urban centers across Greece, Nov. 6. Heightened security, localized disruptions likely.
Labor unions plan to stage workers' rallies nationwide, Nov. 6. Multiple unions representing construction workers, self-employed traders, craft workers and other sectors will denounce recent tax increases and demand increased pay. The largest events will likely include:
Athens: Kanigos Square, at 18:30
Corfu: Manpower Employment Organization (OAED), at 10:30
Larissa: Tax Office, at 08:30
Thessaloniki: Ministry of Macedonia and Thrace, at 09:30.
Other demonstrations are likely across Greece. Several hundred campaigners may participate in each event.
Local authorities will likely deploy heightened security to each event. Increased security and congestion will likely prompt localized transport disruptions near the demonstration sites. The labor rallies will likely cause some business disruptions, but the protests will likely pass off peacefully.
Avoid all protests as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near any protest sites. Heed instructions from authorities.
