Germany: Unionized public transport workers to strike in major cities across Baden-Wurttemberg Jan. 9-10

Unionized public transport workers affiliated with the Ver.di labor union plan to strike across Baden-Wurttemberg Jan. 9-10 over pay and working conditions. The work stoppage will specifically target local public transport companies in Backnang, Bietigheim-Bissingen, Böblingen, Ludwigsburg, Reutlingen, Schwäbisch Hall, Tübingen, Waiblingen as well as bus routes in the Heilbronn and the greater Stuttgart area. Union leaders expect the walkout to disrupt public transportation in the affected areas.

Disruptions to public transportation are likely. Increased demand for other forms of transportation is possible. Striking workers may protest outside major transport hubs.
