Mexico: Officials close dozens of seaports in both Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea as of Jan. 7 due to severe weather

The National Coordination of Civil Protection announced the closure of at least 50 Mexican seaports throughout the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico as of Jan. 7 due to severe weather. The duration of the closures is currently unclear.

Additional maritime operation disruptions are possible in the coming days. Lingering disruptions are likely once operations resume as port operators work to clear the backlogs. Adverse wave conditions could prompt additional closures and coastal flooding.
