Argentina: Bus driver strike in Buenos Aires June 15

Bus drivers in Greater Buenos Aires launched a surprise strike early on Thursday, June 15. Drivers on 60 bus routes are participating in the action, with the most significant disruptions expected in the south of the capital region. The strike will continue until midnight on Thursday (local time).

Due to the fact that the Buenos Aires metro (subte) serves only a relatively small part of the city, residents rely heavily on buses to move around the capital. Increased road traffic is likely in affected areas, as well as increased demand for taxis and Ubers.

Context

The strike was called for following the killing of a driver by criminals on the evening of June 14 near the Claypole train station.
