Multiple labor unions call for nationwide strikes and protests in Argentina February 15

The Confederación General del Trabajo de la República Argentina (CGT), Central de Trabajadores de la Argentina (CTA), and Asociación Trabajadores del Estado (ATE) labor unions are calling for strikes and protests to take place nationwide on Thursday, February 15. Some branches of the CTA and CGT will march in central Buenos Aires, converging on Plaza de Mayo. In addition, groups have promised “roadblocks, caravans, and mobilizations” nationwide. An increased security presence as well as transportation disruptions are likely in the vicinity of any protest.

Context

The CTA and CGT are protesting against layoffs and benefits reforms in both the private and public sectors. The ATE is calling for the government to reverse its decision to dismiss 250 works at the National Institute of Industrial Technology.
