Greece: Public transportation strike in Athens May 1
Multiple unions call for 24-hour public transportation strike in Athens May 1; transportation disruptions expected

The Panhellenic Seamen's Federation (PNO) is calling for a public transportation strike in Athens on Tuesday, May 1. PNO workers will cease operations from 00:01 (local time) until 23:59 on May 1, suspending all ferry service in the city. A number of other transportation unions are also planning strikes in coordination with the PNO. Trolley bus staff and local train workers will also hold a 24-hour strike. According to media reports, evening trains running between Athens and Thessaloniki will be canceled on Monday, April 30, due to the work stoppage. Associated demonstrations are also possible in May 1 in connection to International Workers’ Day.
