Metro workers launch indefinite strike on all lines in Buenos Aires May 22 to demand the release of arrested metro employees

The Association of Workers of the Subway and Premetro (AGTSyP) announced on Tuesday, May 22, that the union will hold an indefinite strike on all metro (subte) lines in Buenos Aires to demand the release from prison of arrested metro employees. According to union leaders, earlier on May 22, at least 16 workers were detained by the police while striking on the E and H lines. AGTSyP representatives announced that it would continue the strike until the workers are released. Increased road congestion, increased demand for taxis, and overcrowding on municipal buses are to be anticipated during the strike.
