Greece: Series of rail strikes July 11-20

Series of partial rail strikes to take place July 11, 13, 16, and 18; 24-hour strike July 20

Warning

Event

A series of strikes by Greek rail workers is set to take place from Wednesday, July 11, through Friday, July 20. They will be held daily on July 11, 13, 16, and 18 from 05:00 to 08:00 (local time), 13:00 to 16:00, and 21:00 to midnight. A 24-hour strike will be held on July 20. Rail disruptions - reduced services, last-minute cancelations, delays, overcrowding on available trains - are to be anticipated during and following these periods. Increased road congestion is also likely in urban areas with commuters forced to use alternate means of transportation.

Associated protests by rail workers are possible.

Advice

Travelers are advised to confirm rail timetables, allow for extra time to reach their destinations, and avoid all protests as a precaution.
