US President Donald Trump to visit Ireland’s County Clare on June 5-7; heightened security measures, protests and associated disruptions expected in County Clare, Dublin

US President Donald Trump will visit western Ireland on Wednesday, June 5, for a meeting with Irish leader Leo Varadkar and a visit to Trump's golf course. Trump is scheduled to arrive in County Clare on Wednesday at Shannon Airport (SNN), where he will meet Varadkar for a meeting at the airport. Trump will then travel to the Trump International Golf Links & Hotel in Doonbeg. Trump may travel to France for D-Day anniversary commemorations on Thursday, June 6, or remain in Ireland before returning to the US on Friday, June 7. Heightened security measures, including roadblocks and checkpoints, are expected in County Clare, particularly at SNN, Doonbeg, and all roads between Shannon and Doonbeg.

Large protests are expected for Trump's visit, with a sit-in demonstration at SNN throughout the day on Wednesday and a large protest held at 18:00 (local time). An estimated 1000 additional security personnel will deploy to assist in peacekeeping and security measures. Protests are also possible in Dublin (County Dublin) on Wednesday at 18:00 by the US Embassy and the General Post Office. Localized disruptions are expected near all protest sites.
