Spain: Protests expected across Catalunya in October

Protests in cities across Catalunya are to be expected in the coming several days and weeks due to an ongoing trial of seven activists in the region, having made their first appearance on Thursday, September 26. The trial is being held in Madrid, though supporters throughout Catalunya have been mobilizing since to show their ongoing support. Pro-independence protests were also held on October 1 in Girona, Lleida, Barcelona, and Tarragona to mark the two-year anniversary of a failed independence referendum in 2017.
