Authorities in Offenburg are conducting an explosive ordnance disposal operation following the discovery of an unexploded World War II-era bomb at the Offenburg Exhibition Center Dec. 9. The device was discovered during construction at the Exhibition Center. Authorities have imposed a 300-meter (984-foot) security cordon around the device to facilitate the disposal operation.

Around 400 residents have been evacuated, and authorities are restricting access to the site. No traffic is permitted within the security cordon. Rail traffic within the area will be temporarily disrupted. Authorities have not indicated when they expect the operation to end.
