Further gatherings by the Intlungu yaseMatyotyombeni movement are possible through March 26 in Cape Town following early morning demonstrations March 23. Transport disruptions have been reported on the N2 and the R300 routes and on other routes in the vicinity of Baden Powell Drive in the Khayelitsha area after protesters erected blockades from around 04:00. Security forces have been deployed to all incidents. The Intlungu yaseMatyotyombeni movement is reportedly protesting to demand improved hygiene conditions in informal settlements around Cape Town. The group has reportedly also stated that protests will continue through at least March 26.
An increased security presence is likely near flashpoint areas. Police may move to disperse disruptive protesters if gatherings occur. Protesters may also attempt to attack and damage vehicles traveling in the affected areas.
