South Africa: Wildfire warnings issued for portions of the Northern Cape Province April 12
Level 10 warnings for wildfire conditions in Northern Cape Province, South Africa, April 12; warnings may be extended through mid-April.

Conditions conducive to the formation of wildfires are possible in parts of the Northern Cape Province through mid-April. The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued level 10 warnings (the highest level) for wildfire conditions in the Kamiesberg, Hantam, Karoo Hoogland, Kai !Garib, and Dawid Kruiper local municipalities April 12. Hot and dry conditions are forecast for much of the province through mid-April and further warnings are likely to be issued. The SAWS indicates that the likelihood of fires is high and the potential impact severe. Fires could spread rapidly and cause damage to property and loss of life.
Any fires could lead to ground travel disruptions, including along parts of national highways such as the N7, N14, N19 N8, N1, and N12. Power outages are also possible in the impacted area. Authorities could close both primary or secondary routes during any fire response. Low visibility from smoke and possible ashfall could contribute to traffic delays and congestion.
