Rival activists groups are currently protesting in the city of Sandvika, approximately 15 km (9 miles) west of Oslo. The far-right group Stop Islamisation of Norway (SIAN) has gathered at the Byscenen; a number of groups are staging counterdemonstrations on the opposite side of the river.
Additional police are deployed to monitor the actions and keep rival activist groups apart; the Radhusbroen is closed to all pedestrians and vehicles while Kinoveien and parts of Claude Monets alle are closed to vehicles only. The additional security measures and related disruptions will remain in place until at least 15:00. SIAN demonstrations often escalate to violence between police and protesters and rival groups of activists; clashes are possible at the protests April 24.
