Colombia: Authorities have temporarily closed Alfonso Bonilla Aragon International Airport (CLO) outside of Cali, May 4
Operations at Alfonso Bonilla Aragon International Airport (CLO) near Cali, Colombia are temporarily suspended as of May 4.
Event
Authorities have temporarily suspended flight operations at Alfonso Bonilla Aragon International Airport (CLO) located in Palmira, outside of Cali, since late May 3, due to ongoing civil unrest in the city. Officials have said the numerous roadblocks in and around Cali have made it difficult for workers and passengers to move to and from the airport. Officials will maintain the suspension until ground transport conditions are adequate and safe.
Major protests have occurred in Colombia since late April; major clashes have occurred in Cali, where the demonstrations have been significant. Disruptions are likely to continue at CLO through at least May 5.
Advice
Confirm flights to and from CLO in the coming days before leaving your residence or lodging. Strictly heed instructions from authorities. Confirm possible delays or cancellations with your airline. Avoid all protests.
