British Virgin Islands: COVID-19 restrictions remain largely unchanged as of June 10 by comparison with those in effect during mid-May /update 36
COVID-19 restrictions in force in British Virgin Islands remain mostly unchanged as of June 10 vis-a-vis those in effect in mid-May.
Event
As of June 10, COVID-19-related travel restrictions in place in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) remain unchanged by comparison with those in effect during mid-May. Under the current directives, all travelers are required to obtain a BVI Gateway Traveller Authorisation Certification to travel to the islands. The application must be completed at least 24 hours before travel. All travelers must also produce a negative result from a PCR test taken 3-5 days before traveling to BVI.
Persons who have gotten their final shot of an approved vaccine more than 14 days before traveling to BVI must follow these additional guidelines:
Provide proof of vaccination
Undergo additional health screenings and take a PCR test at the airport upon arrival
Quarantine for approximately 24 hours while awaiting results from the post-arrival test
Fully vaccinated travelers may end their quarantine immediately if the post-arrival test is negative. These rules also apply for fully vaccinated adults traveling with unvaccinated children. The children may end their quarantine together with their vaccinated parents; however, they will be required to take another PCR test on day four of their stay.
Travelers who are not fully vaccinated must also take a PCR test upon arrival but must quarantine for seven days. If this test is negative, the individual may end the quarantine on the eighth day after arrival. Travelers who have been in Brazil or India within 14 days prior to entering the BVI, including those who are fully vaccinated, must quarantine for 14 days upon arrival.
All individuals traveling in groups composed of both vaccinated and unvaccinated adults must complete a seven-day quarantine. Ferry ports have reopened to passenger vessels from outside the BVI.
Domestic Measures
Businesses must continue to enforce social distancing guidelines, require that facemasks be worn by customers and employees, and adhere to sanitization protocols. Persons operating vessels within BVI territorial waters may only do so between the hours of 00:30-22:00. Gatherings are limited to one person per every six square meters (64 square feet) of space or a maximum of 200 people. Faith-based gatherings, weddings, graduation ceremonies, and funerals can have up to 250 attendees.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
