Police are investigating an explosives attack launched against District 1 Police Department in the Ciudadela Juan Atalaya neighborhood, in Cucuta, early Aug. 30. Officials confirmed at least 11 police officers and two civilians were injured in the attack, which occurred at approximately 06:15. Authorities believe the explosive was placed underneath a chair within the offices. The two civilians injured were walking outside the police department when the incident occurred.

Localized disruptions are likely in the Atalaya neighborhood over the coming hours. A heightened security force presence is also likely.
