Malawi: Student protest at the University of Malawi in Zomba, Sept. 23

University of Malawi (UNIMA) students in Zomba are protesting against their new academic calendar, Sept. 23. Their complaint is centered on the five-month holiday that would extend the duration of their studies. Students have reportedly marched and delivered a petition to the District Commissioner's office. Police are on campus and have reportedly made use of tear gas to disperse students.
