Bangladesh Nationalist Party to rally in Faridpur's Abdul Aziz Institute ground in Dhaka Division, Bangladesh, Nov. 12. Clashes possible.

Warning

Event

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) plans to rally in Faridpur's Abdul Aziz Institute ground in Dhaka Division Nov. 12. The event is the latest gathering in a three-month campaign to mobilize support and protest several issues, including increasing fuel and essential goods costs. The venue for the Nov. 12 demonstration could change with little-to-no notice if local authorities move to prevent activists from assembling. Previous related gatherings have been well attended.

Authorities will likely monitor the rally and may attempt to disperse it if it becomes especially disruptive. Clashes between activists and police, as well as counterdemonstrators, are possible. Protesters could also march along or block roadways, such as the Dhaka-Khulna highway, causing localized transport disruptions.

Faridpur is approximately 63 km (39 miles) southwest of Dhaka city.

Advice

Avoid the demonstration as a standard security precaution. Leave the area at the first sign of any security disturbance. Allow extra time to reach destinations near the rally venue. Heed all official security and transport advisories.
