Brazil: Train disruptions occurring along CPTM lines 11 and 12 in Sao Paulo following train derailment Dec. 4

Rail service disruptions are continuing in eastern Sao Paulo Dec. 4 following a freight train derailment that occurred near Tatuape Station the previous day. Operator Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM) has indicated delays are occurring along the 11 Coral and 12 Safira lines. The Airport Express serving Sao Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) is suspended as well.

Rail authorities continue to conduct repairs and recommend commuters use the PAESE System bus services as an alternative; officials have given no estimate as to when the affected CPTM lines will resume full service.

Advice

Confirm the status of CPTM services in eastern Sao Paulo through at least the morning of Dec. 5. Seek alternative transport for time-sensitive travel. Heed all traffic and security advisories if operating near the incident site.
