Officials in Macau, China, lift outdoor COVID-19 facemask requirements from Feb. 27. Facemask rules remain in certain indoor locations.

Authorities will ease COVID-19 facemask requirements in Macau from Feb. 27. Individuals no longer need to wear a facemask while outdoors. However, facemasks will still be mandatory for visitors who enter medical institutions and elderly homes, and when using public transportation, except for taxis. Officials advise people to carry a facemask while in public, and for those with flu-like symptoms to wear a facemask when going out.
International Travel Restrictions
Inbound travelers from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan are not required to undergo COVID-19 testing prior to departure for Macau. However, passengers arriving from foreign countries must present a negative result from an antigen or nucleic acid test taken within the last 48 hours. Children under three years old are exempt from the testing requirement. International travelers are no longer subject to quarantine on arrival.
Authorities in mainland China have lifted most restrictions on travelers from Macau and Hong Kong. Officials have reopened all previously closed customs checkpoints and removed quotas on travelers. Individuals who have not traveled abroad in the past seven days do not need to undergo COVID-19 testing. Travelers entering mainland China by land from Macau and Hong Kong will no longer be required to register in advance.
