Pakistan: Heavy rainfall continues in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa March 11

Storms continue to bring heavy rain and flooding to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa March 11; lingering associated disruptions expected

The National Weather Forecasting Centre announced that heavy rains that began in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province Wednesday, March 4, were expected to continue on Wednesday, March 11, through Friday, March 13. The severe weather and associated flooding have killed 33 people and injured dozens more, as well as damaged over 140 properties. Some roads in Peshawar and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remain closed.

Heavy rain, flooding, and associated transportation disruptions are expected.

Individuals in Pakistan are advised to monitor local weather reports, anticipate lingering transportation and business disruptions, confirm flight reservations, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
