Argentina: Gas leak in Buenos Aires (Retiro) March 28

A major gas leak near Buenos Aires’s Retiro neighborhood, home to the city’s main bus and train stations, began just before 08:00 (local time) on Wednesday, March 28. The affected area surrounding the leak - at Avenida Ramón Castillo 1700 - has been evacuated and an exit off the Pres. Arturo Umberto Illia Highway closed. No one has been reported sick at this time. However, there is a strong smell throughout the neighborhood and the scene of the leak will remain cordoned off until the situation is brought under control.
