Protesters block all roads into Sucre, including to Sucre Alcantarí International Airport (SRE), on May 10; avoid all protests

General strikes and demonstration continue to take place in various parts of the country, most notably in the city of Sucre. As of Thursday, May 10, protesters have blocked all roads leading into Sucre, significantly disrupting traffic in the area. Access to Sucre Alcantarí International Airport (SRE) has also been blocked by the demonstrators. Severe disruptions, including cancelations, continue at SRE as of May 10. Related protests are also ongoing in Chuquisaca department, where some roads have also been blocked by barricades erected by demonstrators.
Protests, as well as business and transportation disruptions, are expected to continue in the coming days. Heightened security measures are likely in the vicinity of any gatherings.
Context
Multiple unions and civil society groups have organized protests and strike since April 29 in defense of the development of the Incahuasi gas field and to demand that royalties on gas revenue be paid to the Chuquisaca department.
