Unidentified assailants detonated three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during a Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) rally in the Sagarpara area of Rajshahi on the morning of Tuesday, July 17 (local time), wounding at least three people. BNP and Bangladesh Awami League leaders reportedly accused each other of being behind the attack. A heightened security presence is expected and additional attacks targeting political rallies are possible in Rajshahi ahead of local elections scheduled on Monday, July 30.
