The Jatiya Oikya Front opposition coalition has called for a demonstration to be held in Dhaka on Thursday, December 27. According to local sources, demonstrators are expected to rally around the Suhrawardy Udyan park on the early afternoon (local time) of Monday. A heightened security presence and associated transportation disruptions are expected in the vicinity of the demonstration.
Context
The Oikya coalition was formed in October 2018 and is comprised of four political parties, including the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
