Unidentified gunmen killed two soldiers and wounded two others in an attack between Toubakoro and Sebete in Banamba cercle (Koulikoro region) on Sunday, December 30. Similar attacks targeting Malian soldiers are possible in the area over the near term.

Due to the presence of various armed groups, Mali's northern and central regions remain unstable despite the presence of the MINUSMA, one of the largest UN peacekeeping missions in the world.
