Argentina: US Secretary of State visits Buenos Aires July 19
Secretary Pompeo visits Buenos Aires and will meet President Macri on July 19; heightened security measures expected

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is in Buenos Aires on Thursday, July 19, to attend a tribute for the 25 years of the AMIA bombing and the II Hemispheric Ministerial Conference on the Fight against Terrorism.
The AMIA tribute will take place at the AMIA headquarters at 10:00 (local time). The terrorism conference will take place at 11:00 at the Palacio San Martin.
Associated localized transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence are expected near these events.
Following these events, Pompeo is expected to meet with President Macri at his official residence, Quinta de Olivos.
Considering the anti-government protests against President Macri in recent weeks, protests are possible in front of or near any of the aforementioned venues. Clashes between demonstrators and security forces cannot be ruled out.
