At least 20 people were killed in an attack on a Fulani village in Mopti region on November 13; further intercommunal violence possible over the near term

Government officials announced on Friday, November 15, that at least 20 people were killed in an attack on the Fulani village of Peh (Mopti region) on Wednesday, November 13. The assailants are believed to be Dogon farmers from the village of Tongo in neighboring Burkina Faso. Malian security forces have been deployed to the area in a search for the attackers.
A heightened security presence is to be expected in the affected area over the near term. Additional attacks on Fulani communities in Mopti region are possible over the coming days and weeks.
