Mali: Civic group plans demonstration in Bamako June 5

The US Embassy issued an alert stated that the Forces Vives Engagees Resolument pour la Demission de IBK (FERDI) is planning to stage a demonstration in Bamako on Friday, June 5. Supporters of FERDI plan to gather at Monument de L'independence from 14:00 (local time) to demand the resignation of President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta. The Embassy stated that those involved in the event, such as Imam Mahmoud Dicko, have previously drawn a large-scale attendance. The gathering has been authorized by authorities. The Embassy also stated that a pro-government group is planning a counter-demonstration in support of the government; however, there are no further details regarding this event.
