Opposition rally scheduled in Bamako for August 21; avoid all demonstrations

An opposition rally is scheduled to take place on Friday, August 21, in Bamako. The rally is set to occur at the Place de l'Independance, where participants will gather from 12:00 (local time). Activists affiliated with the Mouvement du 5 Juin - Rassemblement des Forces Patriotiques (M5-RFP) opposition movement are holding the rally to celebrate the resignation of former President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita on August 18.
A heightened security presence, as well as associated disruptions to transportation, are to be expected around the demonstration site.
