Unidentified gunmen reportedly attacked the N'Goutjina security checkpoint located in the Koutiala Cercle (Sikasso region) on Saturday, August 1. The attack reportedly occurred at approximately 01:00 (local time) with the gunmen killing at least one person and wounding three others. Additional security personnel have been deployed to the area, and an investigation into the incident has been opened. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
Further attacks are possible in the area in the near term.
